What about trees in the right of way? Are those the responsibility of the city?
The city’s policy leaves the responsibility of maintaining the right of way to the adjacent property owners. If there is a tree in front of your property that you wish to remove, you must obtain a tree removal permit. This also allows property owners to plant trees and other vegetation in the right of way in front of their property. If you need to block any part of the road or sidewalk to remove the tree, you will also need to fill out a Right of Way Permit Application.
