 Police Officer Will Godsil
|
LFP Police Department Hires New Police Officer – Will Godsil The Police Department is excited to introduce its newest member, Officer William (Will) Godsil. Originally from Spokane, Will relocated to Western Washington in 2013 upon being stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord as a Combat Engineer. After leaving active duty in 2017, he settled in various Western Washington cities including Seattle, Tacoma, and Federal Way, taking on jobs in both unarmed and armed security.
In 2022, Will felt a calling to serve his local community, akin to his service to the country, leading him to join the Federal Way Police Department. Now, he joins the Lake Forest Park Police Department, driven by a commitment to fulfill the Department's vision statement, ensuring that Lake Forest Park remains one of the safest cities in the Puget Sound region. Off duty, Will enjoys staying active by working out and taking his dog, Summit, on hikes. He also enjoys attending local baseball and football games, as well as embarking on road trips with his girlfriend. Additionally, Will continues to serve part-time in the Army Reserves as a Drill Sergeant, where he imparts knowledge, trains, and mentors Army recruits, assisting in their transformation from civilians to proud members of the U.S. Army. He eagerly anticipates becoming the next police officer and getting acquainted with both fellow officers and residents in this beautiful city!

Safety Day 2023 - Dunk Tank
|
LFP PD Hosts 4th Annual Safety Day – July 13 It’s that time of year when warmer weather and longer days mean more families are enjoying the outdoors. With the popularity of biking and swimming, ensuring community safety becomes paramount. The LFP Police Department is delighted to announce its 4th annual Safety Day on July 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the parking lot at Lake Forest Park City Hall.
This year’s event promises familiar offerings like complimentary bike helmets and life jackets for kids as well as adults with disabilities (available on a first-come, first-served basis). Children can anticipate goodie bags, a bicycle obstacle course, and the chance to interact with active members of organizations including the Shoreline Fire Department, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Crisis Response Agency, North Sound Police Foundation, Northshore Emergency Management Coalition, and more. This year brings enticing food vendors and captivating activities. A highlight of the event will be the chance to dunk either Chief Harden or Mayor French in the dunk tank—grab a ticket and take aim! Proceeds benefit the North Sound Police Foundation. Our goal is to refresh the event and build upon past successes. Join us to discover what's new, connect with fellow community members, and, most importantly, have a blast. We look forward to seeing you at this year's Safety Day. Remember to stay safe and mark your calendars!

What is 6PPD Anyway? Everyone’s heard the slogan Don’t Wait to Inflate! But what do tires have to do with orcas? 6PPD is what. It’s a chemical in tires that helps them last longer. When tires aren’t fully inflated, 6PPD wears off and leads to the creation of 6PPD-q which is lethal to coho salmon. And we all know how orcas love their salmon! When it rains, 6PPD-q enters the storm drain system and makes its way to our local streams and eventually to Lake Washington or Puget Sound. Let’s keep 6PPD and 6PPD-q out of Lake Forest Park’s storm drains and creeks – and keep the salmon (and orcas!) happy and healthy.
