Council Legislation

The City Council is the legislative body of the City. It enacts laws and regulations, establishes policy direction for the City, establishes tax and fee rates, adopts an annual budget, grants franchises, approves contracts for services, and payment of all City moneys.

Changes or additions to the laws and regulations of the Municipal Code can be proposed by any person or organization and considered by the entire Council with the support of two councilmembers. Such amendments would be brought before the entire council, sitting as the Committee of the Whole, by the supporting councilmembers for consideration. Amendments being considered for adoption are listed below, including current status and anticipated future schedule. Recently adopted amendments will reside on this page for one year's time.
